Trust Charter

What LTC will not do, whatever it is offered.

A product that tells people what to be wary of only works if it is not itself for sale. These are commitments, and each one names how it is enforced.

  1. LTC does not sell personal consent histories.

Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to the companies being assessed, not in aggregate, not "anonymised".

  2. Companies cannot pay to improve findings.

There is no commercial route to a better assessment. A finding follows from a clause in a document, and a payment does not change what the clause says.

  3. Advertisers cannot influence findings.

LTC carries no advertising and takes no advertising revenue, so there is nothing to influence.

  4. Commercial relationships cannot modify risk scores.

The people who assess are organisationally separate from the people who sell. A partnership does not reach the taxonomy, the weights, or a company page.

  5. Certification payments do not guarantee certification.

If LTC Verified launches, paying for an assessment buys the assessment, not the outcome. Fees are published, and a failed assessment is a normal result.

  6. Consumer findings remain evidence-driven.

No material finding without a passage from a document. This is enforced by a validator that discards anything it cannot verify, not by a policy.

  7. User privacy is a security property, not a setting.

The request LTC sends has no field capable of carrying page content, and a test fails the build if a known secret string ever appears in it.

The structural version

Commitments are only as good as the incentives underneath them, so the important one is this: the free tier keeps every capability that actually protects you. Detection, the Consent Card, the evidence, the concern ladder — free, forever.

LTC+ sells memory and monitoring: the Vault, change alerts, personal rules, sync. If LTC ever needed to make the warnings themselves worse to sell subscriptions, the business would be pointed at its users rather than at their problem. Keeping the protection free is what stops that being possible.

If you believe LTC has broken one of these, say so publicly and tell us. A charter nobody can check is marketing.
